MY Wild Ride: Through Real Estate in Pursuit of the American Dream

This is a true story, with several names changed, of a little guy who tried to Get Rich Quick in the heady days of The Massachusetts Miracle, one of the most spectacular and destructive real estate bubbles of the 20th Century. The Miracle was so spectacular that it propelled Massachusetts’ then-Governor Mike Dukakis to the 1988 Democratic nomination for the presidency of the United States; it was so destructive that it led to the bankruptcy of New England’s largest bank and scores of smaller enterprises.

I was the little guy, and this is the story of how I almost touched the stars before flaming out and crashing back down to earth.

It is also the story of Salem Massachusetts, the small city in which I was working at that time.
