Stroke! How I Got Hit, How I Got Well

About

I had a stroke in November, 2010. The stroke knocked me to the floor and paralyzed the entire right side of my body.
I stayed on the floor for 8 hours before I was finally discovered and taken to the hospital in Paris, which is where I live and where
I spent a month in the hospital. During that month, at the urging of my physical therapist, I began this little book, which is the story of the stroke and of my rehabilitation, which is now complete.
I have effectively no residual effects from the stroke. I ride my bike everywhere in Paris and in the other cities I visit; I swim ever-greater distances in the local pool; I neither limp, nor drag my arm nor show any other signs of having been the “victim” of a stroke.
This book is a personal story; it is also a kind of how-to manual for those who hope to recover from a brain injury, and for their loved ones.
It is a book with a message: You CAN Get Better!
It is dedicated to the idea of joie de vire-- and to everyone who wants to experience it.
